The Great Wall Motor's MENG LONG PLUS recently received an OTA update, introducing multiple new features to enhance advanced driver assistance, active safety, and overall driving experience. Following the upgrade, the vehicle now supports map-learning capabilities, enabling it to build a map of up to 3 kilometers in a single drive and store up to 100 routes. The system supports cruise speeds of up to 20 km/h. The update adds a multi-scenario memory parking function that works across underground parking lots, multi-level parking structures, and surface parking areas. It supports cross-floor memory and cruising, offering strong continuity across complex parking environments. The advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) now incorporates human-like decision-making capabilities, allowing it to perform tasks such as straight-road cruising, left and right turns, oncoming vehicle avoidance, queue following, obstacle circumnavigation, and emergency braking upon obstacle detection. Users can activate the ADAS directly from their parking spot, and the system will automatically handle tasks like recognizing barrier gate openings, assisting with U-turns, navigating roundabouts, and entering turn-waiting zones—seamlessly connecting multiple scenarios and road segments from parking lots and internal roads to public streets. On the active safety front, the vehicle employs a fused perception system combining cameras, millimeter-wave radar, and LiDAR. If Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) alone cannot fully avoid a collision, the system can automatically initiate evasive steering maneuvers within a speed range of 80–130 km/h, creating a dual-protection mechanism that prioritizes braking while supplementing with steering intervention when necessary. Additionally, the vehicle’s perception system continuously scans the road ahead up to 20 meters, detecting obstacles such as speed bumps and manhole covers. Based on vehicle speed and sensor input, it calculates optimal damping targets and timing, leveraging a millisecond-response suspension system to proactively adjust damping settings. When encountering bumpy or uneven surfaces, the suspension automatically softens to absorb shocks, reducing ride discomfort and minimizing motion sickness during long trips. Conversely, during cornering or when traversing speed bumps, the system enhances body stability by suppressing roll and pitch motions.
