Bosch’s next-generation AI-powered intelligent cockpit has secured定点 (nomination) from a leading Chinese automaker and is scheduled for mass production in Q3 2027. Centered around the Harness safety framework with edge-cloud collaboration, the cockpit aims to address industry-wide challenges such as fragmented user scenarios, inconsistent responsiveness, and safety risks stemming from “AI hallucinations.” The system spans the entire vehicle usage cycle—from in-car to out-of-car—delivering a personalized AI mobility companion. Inside the vehicle, the cockpit proactively responds to driver and passenger needs through enhanced contextual awareness—for example, alleviating driver fatigue, monitoring sleeping children, and pre-planning charging stops. After exiting the vehicle, it enables seamless multi-device integration, synchronizing schedules and traffic updates while allowing remote vehicle adjustments to ensure “no waiting upon departure.” On the safety front, Bosch has developed a vehicle-level Harness safety framework that validates and controls all vehicle commands generated by large AI models throughout the entire pipeline, intercepting high-risk or erroneous instructions at the foundational level. Technically, the architecture employs an edge-cloud collaborative strategy: edge-side AI handles core computations like facial recognition locally to protect privacy and ensure functionality in poor network conditions, while cloud-based AI manages complex, cross-device, long-duration tasks, enabling continuous system iteration and personalized services. Bosch stated that this cockpit integrates personalized, full-lifecycle experiences with robust safety assurance. Through this mass-production project, Bosch will collaborate with automakers to advance in-vehicle AI toward safer, ubiquitous, continuously evolving, and highly personalized solutions.
