Samsung Electronics reported consolidated financial results for the second quarter, with operating profit reaching KRW 89.4924 trillion (approximately RMB 419.915 billion), a year-over-year increase of 1,813.8%. Sales revenue amounted to KRW 171.4995 trillion, up 130% year-over-year, while net profit stood at KRW 71.6245 trillion, surging 1,299.9% compared to the same period last year. Both operating profit and sales revenue marked all-time highs for any single quarter, setting new records for the third consecutive quarter. By business segment, the Device Solutions (DS) division—primarily responsible for semiconductors—recorded sales of KRW 127.5 trillion and operating profit of KRW 89.2 trillion, both historic highs. Meanwhile, the Device eXperience (DX) division—focused on finished devices—posted sales of KRW 48 trillion but incurred an operating loss of KRW 800 billion. Harman, Samsung’s automotive electronics subsidiary, achieved sales of KRW 4.6 trillion and operating profit of KRW 400 billion. Samsung Display reported sales of KRW 7.5 trillion and operating profit of KRW 700 billion. Looking ahead, the company expects semiconductor demand to remain robust in the second half of the year, particularly driven by generative AI, which is anticipated to further boost DS division performance. However, the DX division faces a challenging business environment due to heightened global uncertainties and rising component costs. On July 30, Samsung Electronics’ share price declined by 2.4%.
