At its technology launch event, Xiaomi unveiled detailed safety specifications for its new vehicle, the Pengcheng N90 Max. The car features an armored cage-type body structure, with high-strength steel and aluminum alloys accounting for 90.4% of the body materials. Sixteen critical areas of the body are reinforced with ultra-high-strength steel boasting a tensile strength of 2,200 MPa. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with an extra-large, one-piece hot-formed door ring measuring 3.3 meters in length and 1.5 meters in height, spanning from the first to the third row of seats and covering the A, B, C, and D pillars. Four key sections of this door ring are also strengthened with 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel. Compared to conventional welding techniques, this structural design increases the body’s load-bearing capacity during side pole impacts by 19%. Moreover, Xiaomi stated that it conducted multiple omnidirectional crash tests on the entire vehicle, all performed at speeds exceeding current industry standards: - Frontal crash test speed: 64 km/h (C-NCAP standard: 56 km/h) - 25% small overlap frontal crash test speed: 72 km/h (China Insurance Automotive Safety Institute standard: 64 km/h) - Side impact test speed: 70 km/h (C-NCAP standard: 60 km/h) - Rear-end collision test speed: 92 km/h (new national standard requirement: 50 km/h)
