Dongfeng Motor Reports Three Executives Under Investigation in One Day; Multiple Corruption Cases Disclosed This Year

On July 30, Dongfeng Motor Corporation announced that three senior executives are under investigation for suspected serious violations of discipline and law. The individuals involved are: - Li Keping, former Assistant General Manager of Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd. and former General Manager of its Commercial Vehicle Sales Company, who is jointly being investigated by the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Group stationed at Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. (under the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and National Supervisory Commission) and the Yufeng District Supervisory Commission of Liuzhou City, Guangxi; - Zeng Tao, General Manager of the Western Region of the Automotive Marketing Division at Shenzhen Dongfeng Nanfang Industrial Group Co., Ltd., who is jointly under investigation by the Discipline Inspection Committee of Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (Dongfeng Nissan) and the Qingyang District Supervisory Commission of Chengdu City, Sichuan; - Yuan Liancheng, former Chief Engineer of the Manufacturing Engineering Department at Dongfeng Motor Parts & Components (Group) Co., Ltd., who is jointly being investigated by the Discipline Inspection Committee of Dongfeng Technology (Dongfeng Parts & Components) and the Maojian District Supervisory Commission of Shiyan City, Hubei. This is not the first time this year that Dongfeng Motor has announced on a single day that three executives are under investigation. On March 13, “Integrity Dongfeng” reported that Tao Jun, former Deputy Head of Procurement Headquarters at Dongfeng Yulon Motor Co., Ltd.; Zhong Zhiyong, Party Committee Member of Dongfeng Logistics Group Co., Ltd.; and Wang Xiaodong, former Deputy General Manager of the Procurement Center at Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd., were all under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation. Moreover, since the beginning of this year, Dongfeng Motor has also announced disciplinary reviews and supervisory investigations into several other executives, including Guo Zhenfu, former Executive Deputy General Manager of Dongfeng Honda Engine Co., Ltd.; Mao Zhijun, former Deputy General Manager of the Manufacturing Management Department at Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd.; and Zhang Bin, former Plant Director of the Foundry Factory at Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. At the end of April, the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Group stationed at Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. (under the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and National Supervisory Commission) also disclosed four typical cases involving violations of the CPC Central Committee’s Eight-point Regulation on Improving Conduct: - Dang Zhiyong, former Head of Business Planning Department at Dongfeng Nissan, was expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office, and sentenced to five years in prison with a fine of RMB 400,000 for organizing banquets and entertainment activities that could influence impartial performance of official duties and for improperly receiving gifts; - Liu Xingwang, former General Manager of Dongfeng Logistics’ Shenzhen Branch, was expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office, and his suspected criminal offenses have been referred to prosecutors; - Wang Peng, former Regional Management Manager at Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd., received a Party warning and an administrative reprimand for improperly accepting banquets and vehicle transportation services from entities under his management or supervision; - Ding Xiancheng, a team leader at Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Xinjiang Co., Ltd., received an official admonition for repeatedly accepting shopping cards and gifts from suppliers.
