On August 3, WeRide and Danish shared mobility platform GreenMobility announced a strategic partnership to jointly launch Denmark’s first commercial autonomous ride-hailing service. The project is scheduled to open to the public in the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approval, using the GXR—a Level 4 Robotaxi compliant with EU regulations. This move makes WeRide the first Chinese Robotaxi company to enter the Nordic market, and Denmark becomes the sixth European country in its global expansion. Previously, WeRide launched similar services in Madrid, Spain, and Zurich, Switzerland, in June 2026. This collaboration adopts a “light-asset expansion” model, combining WeRide’s autonomous driving technology with GreenMobility’s local operational infrastructure and user channels to accelerate market entry. WeRide noted that Denmark offers robust digital infrastructure, high electric vehicle adoption rates, and a regulatory environment supportive of innovation—factors conducive to deploying autonomous mobility services. To date, WeRide operates in 13 countries and over 40 cities worldwide, holds autonomous driving permits in eight countries, and maintains a Level 4 autonomous fleet exceeding 3,000 vehicles. GreenMobility operates the largest free-floating shared electric vehicle network in the Nordics, with a fleet of more than 1,500 vehicles. Both parties will work closely with Danish authorities to advance the project in full compliance with local laws and regulations, and plan to share further updates in the coming months.
