Tao Hailong will return to Huayu Automotive Systems Company Limited as its General Manager, facilitating a two-way talent flow between the group’s vehicle manufacturing and component businesses. Tao Hailong assumed leadership of SAIC Volkswagen in July 2024 and promptly established the strategic direction of “parallel advancement and equal intelligence for both ICE and NEV products,” driving the company’s comprehensive transition toward new energy vehicles (NEVs). During his tenure, SAIC Volkswagen launched a series of new pure-electric and extended-range models, including the ID. ERA series, Audi E5 Sportback, and Audi E7X, while simultaneously upgrading core ICE models such as the Passat and Tiguan with enhanced intelligent features—addressing previous gaps in the joint venture’s NEV product portfolio. On the management front, Tao implemented Integrated Product Development (IPD) and Integrated Product Marketing System (IPMS), streamlining internal decision-making processes and emphasizing supply chain collaboration. He worked closely with dealers and suppliers to strengthen production-sales integration, laying the foundation for a “JV 2.0” development model. Incoming General Manager Wu Yun is a homegrown, multi-disciplinary executive at SAIC Volkswagen. Born in 1979 and holding a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, he joined SAIC Volkswagen in 2003 and brings over two decades of industry experience. His career spans product engineering, manufacturing, marketing, strategy, and full lifecycle vehicle management. He previously spearheaded Audi brand localization, NEV product planning, and the development of innovative business models. In 2025, he was seconded to Bosch Huayu Steering Systems Co., Ltd. as General Manager, gaining deep insights into upstream component supply chain dynamics. Returning to SAIC Volkswagen in 2026 to lead HR and organizational functions, he focused on optimizing organizational structure and building a robust talent pipeline—laying critical managerial groundwork for the company’s electrification transformation. Industry observers note that Wu Yun’s triple expertise—in full-vehicle operations, component enterprises, and organizational management—aligns well with SAIC Volkswagen’s current transformation needs.
