Tesla Upgrades Cybertruck Underbody Shield from Aluminum to Carbon Fiber

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-08-03 23:18:10

On July 31, Tesla engineer Wes Morrill confirmed on X that the Cybertruck’s underbody shield has been changed from the previously used aluminum alloy to carbon fiber. Since its delivery began in 2023, the vehicle had featured an aluminum alloy underbody shield. According to internal test results, carbon fiber is lighter, more durable, and less costly than aluminum alloy. Additionally, the carbon fiber underbody allows for more precise shaping around bolt areas and optimizes airflow underneath the vehicle more effectively than stamped aluminum panels. Carbon fiber is a high-strength, high-modulus fiber material with a carbon content exceeding 95%, known for its lightweight nature, high strength, and heat resistance.
