Xiaomi Auto Unveils Water-Fording Capabilities and Emergency Flotation Escape Tech for N70 Max and N90 Max

On August 4, Xiaomi Auto released its "Answers to Netizens' Questions (Episode 267)," disclosing the wading capabilities and emergency buoyancy-assisted escape functions of its entire Pengcheng vehicle lineup. The N70 Max has a maximum wading depth of 650 mm, while the N90 Max can handle up to 750 mm. Although both models share identical hardware configurations, the N70 Max—being smaller and lighter—has undergone specific powertrain tuning to ensure effective power delivery within its 650 mm wading limit. The vehicles feature waterproofing upgrades on 24 critical components. The high-voltage battery meets IPX8/IPX9K waterproof standards, the air conditioning system employs a "triple waterproof barrier" design, and the A/B/C-pillar cavities utilize dual-layer sealing to enhance overall cabin airtightness. Additionally, the range extender’s air intake has been relocated beneath the front windshield, and the cabin pressure relief valve has been moved above the tailgate, further optimizing wading performance. When wading mode is activated, two dedicated wading radars continuously monitor water depth and dynamically adjust torque output and power distribution to maintain driving stability. In extreme scenarios, the vehicles support an emergency buoyancy-assisted escape function, keeping the cabin free from significant water ingress for up to three minutes, providing occupants with a critical window to escape.
