Genesis will officially launch its all-new flagship electric SUV, the GV90, in August 2026. Positioned above the existing GV80 SUV and G90 sedan, the GV90 will become the brand’s most premium offering. Built on Hyundai Motor Group’s upgraded eM electric vehicle platform, it shares its underpinnings with the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9. The GV90 will feature rear-hinged rear doors—commonly known as "suicide doors"—a design first showcased on the Neolun concept unveiled in 2024 and confirmed for the production model. Prototype test vehicles have already revealed this door configuration combined with a B-pillar-less structure and automatic opening functionality, though it remains unclear whether these features will be standard across all trims or limited to higher-end variants. Powering the GV90 will likely be a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system paired with a battery pack of approximately 110 kWh. Genesis is also developing range-extender electric technology, leaving open the possibility of a range-extended variant of the GV90 in the future. In international markets, the GV90 will compete against the all-electric Range Rover, BMW iX7, Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, and Cadillac Escalade IQ. In China, it will face off against premium new-energy SUVs such as the Zeekr 9X, Aito M9, and Li L9. Peter Kronschnabl, Managing Director of Genesis Europe, confirmed that the GV90 will be sold in the UK, albeit with limited expected sales volume. The brand aims to achieve annual European sales of 12,500 units by 2030—a significant gap compared to its projected U.S. sales of 82,000 units in 2025.
