Chinese EVs Dominate UK Sales: Top 13 Spots in July, 183,000 Units Sold in First Half

According to data released on August 6, 2026, by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), three models from Chinese automakers ranked among the UK’s top ten best-selling vehicles in July 2026: Chery’s JAECOO 7, JAECOO 5, and SAIC’s MG HS. Combined, these three models sold 7,893 units, capturing over 5% of the market share. In the first half of 2026, sales of Chinese new energy vehicles (NEVs) in the UK reached 183,000 units, surging by more than 110% year-on-year and increasing their market share to 16.1%. Among them, the MG brand sold nearly 49,000 units, BYD sold close to 38,000 units, and Chery’s Jaecoo line sold a total of 23,840 units, making it the third best-selling car model in the UK during the period. Meanwhile, China’s total vehicle exports reached 5.096 million units in the first half of 2026, up 65.3% year-on-year, with full-year exports projected to exceed 10 million units.
