SAIC Volkswagen ID. ERA 5S Launches Pre-sales from RMB 115,900

SAIC Volkswagen’s ID. ERA 5S sedan opened for pre-sales on August 11, with a pre-sale price range of RMB 115,900 to RMB 145,900. The vehicle is scheduled to make its official debut at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 21, 2026. As the first sedan in the ID. ERA family, it measures 4,836 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,766 mm. It will be offered in five exterior colors—Urban Gold, Fashion Teal, Avant-Garde Black, Horizon Gray, and Modern White—and two interior color schemes named “Floating Light” and “Fleeting Shadow.” Powering the vehicle is a 1.5L plug-in hybrid system, featuring an engine with a maximum net output of 80 kW and an electric motor delivering a peak power of 130 kW. It offers a CLTC-rated all-electric range exceeding 160 km, a claimed combined range of up to 2,000 km, and a fuel consumption of just 2.82 L/100 km under low-battery conditions. Notably, the ID. ERA 5S is Volkswagen’s first global sedan equipped with urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) advanced intelligent driving capabilities. It comes standard with the “Xingyun Smart Drive” advanced driver-assistance system and the “Yunqi Smart Cabin” intelligent cockpit. The cabin features an enveloping, integrated layout that seamlessly incorporates hidden air vents, window switches, door handles, and a smartphone charging area alongside the central air vents. It also boasts the segment’s largest panoramic sunroof, complete with a physical sunshade. The vehicle supports cross-brand smartphone connectivity and is equipped with an AI-powered voice assistant co-developed with iFlytek, enabling control over ambient lighting, 10-point seat massage functions, and baby-friendly seat materials. Additionally, the front passenger seat can be folded flat to create a lounge-style sofa bed.
