XPeng G9L Passes Seven Extreme Safety Tests, Earns CATA Certification

On August 11, XPeng Motors unveiled at the G9L pre-sale launch event that the model had successfully passed the "Single-Vehicle 720° Water-Land-Air Sevenfold Integrated Safety Challenge." The test included seven rigorous scenarios: five-minute full-vehicle submersion, 35 km/h underbody scraping, 50 km/h single-side bridge spiral rollover, three consecutive 100 km/h collisions, and battery fire exposure—simulating extreme conditions such as severe urban flooding, off-road undercarriage impacts during road trips, and sudden rollover accidents. Upon completion, the G9L received the TOPSafety Challenge Success Certificate from China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC). The vehicle features a front-and-rear integrated die-casting structure manufactured with 16,000-ton presses and boasts a body torsional rigidity of 56,000 N·m/deg. Its body-in-white shares the same architecture as the XPeng GX. The G9L is equipped with 11 airbags, including a far-side airbag featuring a 41-liter triple-chamber design. In terms of active safety, the G9L comes standard with an all-weather, all-scenario stability system, offers a wading depth capability of 700 mm, and is fitted with dual professional-grade water-detection radars. XPeng stated that the G9L was developed to meet the five-star safety standards of the world’s four leading safety rating institutions and aligns its safety benchmarks with those of the flagship GX model.
