BYD Seagull Surpasses 1,000 Orders in Japan Within Two Weeks; Highway Range Test Achieves Nearly 100%

BYD's K-Car model Hai Otter, specifically designed for the Japanese market, was launched in Japan on July 28, offering three variants priced between ¥2.145 million and ¥2.497 million (approximately RMB 88,800 to RMB 103,300). The vehicle is equipped with two Blade Battery options—22.4 kWh and 35.84 kWh—delivering CLTC-rated ranges of 200 km and 320 km, respectively. During a real-world highway test conducted by Japanese journalist Koichiro Imamoto from Yokohama to Kagoshima, the Hai Otter traveled 318.9 km on a full charge and still retained 3% battery, achieving a range efficiency close to 100%. The car supports a maximum DC fast-charging power of 48.3 kW. Within two weeks of its launch, the Hai Otter has already received over 1,000 orders, setting a new record as BYD’s fastest-selling model in the Japanese market.
