On August 13, spy photos of a group of Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 Mythos prototypes undergoing road testing in Germany were released. This high-performance variant of the CLE Coupe—a luxurious two-door, four-seat grand tourer—has now entered its mid-cycle engineering refinement phase and is expected to debut in the first half of 2027 as a 2028 model year vehicle. Exterior updates distinguish the new prototype from earlier test mules, featuring revised aerodynamic and cooling components. A new central air intake has been added to the hood to enhance heat dissipation during track driving. The headlights and taillights now incorporate star-themed design elements, with the star-shaped daytime running lights making their debut on the latest-generation CLA. For the first time, the roof appears to be constructed from carbon fiber panels. The car also features a widened track but does not use center-lock wheels. A rear spoiler is fitted at the back. Regarding powertrain, Adam Chamberlain, CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA), has confirmed that a V8-powered CLE 63 will be launched. The Mythos variant is expected to be equipped with the M177 Evo engine, with unofficial reports suggesting an output of approximately 650 horsepower, potentially paired with a lightweight ISG mild-hybrid system.
