On August 14, Zeekr responded to rumors about an "8-million-yuan ultra-expensive racing license program." The company confirmed it will hold its first new energy drifting racing license training session in mid-to-late August at the Ningbo International Circuit. It disclosed that preliminary investments in race car modifications, exclusive track rental, and safety measures have totaled 8 million yuan. Zeekr emphasized that online claims of an "exorbitant training fee" stem from public misunderstanding—the investment aims to fill a gap in the industry and will not be passed on to users as additional costs. Zeekr stated this training program is the world’s first dedicated to new energy drifting racing licenses. Pricing will be benchmarked against industry standards while factoring in the cost advantages of new energy technologies to lower entry barriers. Additionally, since 2023, Zeekr has organized track days and driver training events under its "Zeekr Speed Lab" IP. This year, the company will deploy a newly developed drifting race car for license training and one-make series operations, with plans to promote new energy vehicles’ participation in international-level drifting championships within the next three to five years.
