FAW Hongqi Launches New HS5 at Chengdu Auto Show on August 21

FAW Hongqi officially announced that the all-new Hongqi HS5 will make its market debut on August 21 during the 29th Chengdu International Auto Show. The new model features upgrades in exterior design, interior appointments, and intelligent driving capabilities. Exterior updates retain the large vertical-bar grille but replace the current split-headlamp design with an integrated LED projector headlight assembly. New LED daytime running lights are added on both sides of the grille, while the rear end receives revised taillights and a redesigned rear bumper. Inside, the cabin is upgraded to the "Lingxi Smart Cockpit," equipped with the world’s first automotive-grade 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip. It features a large floating center touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, HUD head-up display, and an electronic gear selector. Additional amenities include heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, wireless smartphone charging for front passengers, and a Dynaudio premium audio system. The vehicle is powered by the SiNan Intelligent Driving System. Under the hood, it retains the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 252 horsepower (185 kW) and 380 N·m of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants will be available. Additionally, Hongqi plans to launch a plug-in hybrid version based on the Honghu HMP hybrid platform at a later stage. This variant will feature a dedicated 1.5T hybrid engine, offering a pure electric range of 170 km and supporting 4C fast charging.
