All-New Long-Wheelbase Mercedes-Benz GLE Debuts Globally; China-Made Version Starts Around RMB 600,000

On August 15, Mercedes-Benz announced that the all-new long-wheelbase GLE will make its global debut at the Chengdu Auto Show. This model marks Mercedes-Benz’s first domestically produced large luxury SUV in China. It measures 5,051 mm in length, 2,018 mm in width, and 1,784 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,115 mm—longer than the overseas version. The exterior design remains consistent with the international model, featuring a large front grille, the iconic three-pointed star emblem, star-pattern LED headlights, and taillights incorporating star-themed elements, along with a dual-exit exhaust layout on each side. In terms of powertrains, the GLE 350 L is equipped with the M254 2.0T engine producing a maximum output of 190 kW, while the GLE 450 L features the M256 3.0T engine delivering 280 kW. Both variants are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. The locally produced version is expected to be priced lower than the imported model (which starts at RMB 699,800), with an estimated starting price around RMB 600,000.
