SAIC Volkswagen Launches Four ID.ERA Models; ID.ERA5S Opens for Pre-orders

On August 14, SAIC Volkswagen unveiled four models from its ID.ERA family at the Chengdu Auto Show, including the ID.ERA5S—already open for pre-orders—and the simultaneously debuted ID.ERA8X, ID.ERA5X, along with the currently available flagship model, the ID.ERA9X. The ID.ERA5S is priced between RMB 115,900 and RMB 145,900. It measures 4,836 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,766 mm. The vehicle is powered by a 1.5L plug-in hybrid system featuring an engine with a maximum net output of 80 kW and an electric motor delivering a peak power of 130 kW. It offers a CLTC-rated all-electric range exceeding 160 km, a claimed combined range of 2,000 km, and a fuel consumption of just 2.82 L/100 km under low-battery conditions. It also comes equipped with the “Xingyun Zhixing” advanced driver-assistance system and the “Yunqi ZhiCang” intelligent cabin. The ID.ERA8X is a large five-seater extended-range flagship SUV, measuring 5,020 mm long, 1,997 mm wide, and 1,750 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,970 mm. It features a range-extending system based on the EA211 engine. Positioned as a “Super Power Pure Electric SUV,” the ID.ERA5X is Volkswagen’s first global production model built on the CMP platform and equipped with the CEA electronic/electrical architecture. It measures 4,560 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm. The model is equipped with the “Xingyun Zhixing” intelligent driving assistance system and LiDAR hardware, supporting end-to-end, full-scenario urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) functionality. In addition, other models such as the new Lavida LGTS Racing Edition, Passat ePro, Tiguan LePro, and Teramont Pro were also showcased at this year’s auto show.
