Tesla Cybercab Spotted with Multicolor Front Light Strip; Purpose Undisclosed

On August 16, Tesla’s Cybercab was observed with an illuminated full-width front light bar capable of displaying multiple colors. Previously, during an autonomous driving event held at the SunTrax testing facility in Florida, a Cybercab’s front light bar exhibited segmented red, white, and blue lighting. More recently, in Austin, user David Moss captured another Cybercab with its front light bar glowing purple. Under normal conditions, the vehicle’s light bar appears as a continuous white strip, with the headlights directly integrated into the light band. Tesla has not officially confirmed that the light bar supports multi-color functionality or disclosed its specific purpose. U.S. regulations for auxiliary front lighting on vehicles typically permit only white and amber colors; colors such as red, green, and blue may be restricted and potentially allowed only in non-public-road scenarios—such as when parked, on display, or within private facilities. If the individual LEDs support independent control, dynamic lighting effects could theoretically be achieved.
