Sony Files New Patent for AI to Identify Malicious Users

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-08-16 12:54:00

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has recently filed a patent application (No. 18/314775) proposing the use of AI technology to identify and flag users attempting malicious interactions with minors. The patent describes an AI account system controlled by a large language model that simulates the chat behavior of minors and is deployed in environments where potentially malicious users might seek targets. When a user interacts with these AI accounts and exhibits suspicious behavior, the system flags their account as high-risk and continues monitoring it. If the user subsequently initiates contact with real players, the system can issue preemptive warnings or implement protective measures. The patent emphasizes that merely chatting with AI accounts will not result in direct penalties, but accounts repeatedly displaying suspicious behavior may be banned. It remains unclear whether this technology will actually be implemented on the PlayStation platform.
