Chery Jaguar Land Rover Freelander 8 Surpasses 10,000 Pre-Orders in 48 Hours, Starting at RMB 339,900

On August 16, Chery Jaguar Land Rover officially announced that its new FREELANDER Discovery Sport 8 had surpassed 10,000 pre-orders within just 48 hours of launching pre-sales. The vehicle starts at RMB 339,900 and comes standard across all trims with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 intelligent driving system, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 automotive-grade chip, and an 800V high-voltage platform. The Discovery Sport 8 measures 5,118 mm (or 5,185 mm with spare wheel mounted) in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,898 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm. It features a 2+2+2 six-seat layout. Optional foldable tray tables are available on both front seatbacks, complemented by a 15.6-inch Mini LED center touchscreen and a 17.3-inch ceiling-mounted rear entertainment screen. The second row is equipped with “Super Zero-Gravity Seats” featuring heated leg rests, while the first and second rows can be transformed into a flat bed with a single button press. The cabin offers 11 charging ports and comes standard with detachable Harman Kardon headrest speakers. Under the hood, the Discovery Sport 8 is powered exclusively by a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder range extender boasting a thermal efficiency of 45.79%, capable of generating 3.7 kWh of electricity per liter of 92-octane gasoline. It features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering a combined output of 610 kW and peak torque of 813 N·m, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.6 seconds. The rear axle is equipped as standard with a 250 kW two-speed motor, delivering up to 8,000 N·m of wheel-end torque and supporting rear-wheel steering with ±10° of angle, resulting in a turning radius of no more than 5.15 meters. The suspension setup includes a closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension, CCD continuously variable damping shock absorbers, and a front mechanical differential lock. For battery specifications, the vehicle is fitted with a CATL-supplied 60.3 kWh “Xiaoyao” dedicated hybrid battery pack. It offers a CLTC pure-electric range of 310 km and, leveraging the 800V high-voltage architecture, can recharge from 20% to 80% in as little as 12 minutes.
