2027 BMW X3 Officially Unveiled, Global Debut at Chengdu Auto Show with Deliveries Starting in September

On August 17, BMW released official images of the 2027 X3, a mid-cycle refresh model that will make its China debut at the Chengdu International Auto Show opening on August 21 and is scheduled to begin deliveries in September 2024. The refreshed X3 features an M-style horizontal-bar kidney grille at the front, offers an exclusive Sand Beige exterior paint option, and debuts newly designed M Sport alloy wheels. Inside, the passenger-side dashboard now includes contrast stitching, creating a more cohesive color scheme and simplifying seat upholstery choices. Standard equipment across all trims includes ventilated front seats, lumbar support for the front passenger seat, heated rear seats, and enlarged rear headrests for enhanced comfort. In terms of intelligent features, the vehicle is equipped with the BMW AI Personal Assistant powered by a cloud-based large language model, enabling multi-turn continuous conversations, contextual semantic memory, and complex logical reasoning. These capabilities will be rolled out via over-the-air (OTA) updates starting late August to vehicles equipped with the ninth-generation BMW Operating System. Powertrain options carry over from the current model, offering two variants of a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing maximum outputs of 140 kW (190 hp) and 190 kW (258 hp), with peak torques of 310 N·m and 400 N·m respectively. Both are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The chassis features BMW’s ninth-generation transverse dynamics management system, and all models come standard with xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive, a 50:50 front-to-rear axle load distribution, and 285mm-wide tires.
