On August 15, Zhang Hongjun, Executive Deputy General Manager of FAW FinDreams New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., revealed that the company is advancing the integration and adaptation of FinDreams’ second-generation Blade Battery. It has already secured a key project定点 (nomination) from FAW Group for the next-generation pure electric platform of Hongqi models and will soon debut its megawatt flash charging technology on FAW vehicles for the first time. Previously, BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and megawatt flash charging technology were exclusively used in BYD’s latest vehicle models. The FAW FinDreams new energy power battery project is jointly invested in by China FAW Group and BYD, with a total investment of RMB 18 billion. The project is planned in three phases, with a total capacity of 45 GWh (15 GWh per phase). The first phase, with an investment of RMB 7 billion, commenced production in February 2024—achieving battery pack rollout within 11 months and cell production within 16 months—and has now entered stable mass production, supplying batteries for new energy vehicles under brands including Hongqi and Audi. The second phase is accelerating contract signing and construction commencement. Once all three phases are fully operational, the facility will supply Blade Batteries for nearly 600,000 vehicles annually, generating an estimated annual output value of RMB 20 billion. This project marks Northeast China’s first new energy vehicle power battery production base and features a co-axial layout and close collaboration with FAW Hongqi’s Fanrong Plant and the FAW Audi NEV plant.
