On August 19, GAC Aion officially unveiled its first model featuring the refreshed logo—the Aion Ray7—at the "Aion Super EV Launch Night" event. The vehicle is available in two body colors: "Lightning Yellow" and "Midsummer Purple." It measures 4,960 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,455 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. Designed with a low-slung, wide-body stance and Quantum Star Ring lighting units front and rear, the Ray7 achieves an aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.22 Cd. The Ray7 is powered by Huawei’s next-generation DriveONE multi-in-one electric drive system and features battery packs supplied by CATL, utilizing the new "Battery Armor 2.0" technology. It also incorporates an advanced thermal management system with a 28-in-1 thermal management module. The entire vehicle adopts full electrification for control systems and debuts globally with a chip-level integrated drive-and-brake architecture. It is the first production car to feature Huawei’s EMB fully-wire-controlled braking system and iTRACK intelligent torque control system. For chassis performance, the Ray7 employs an aluminum-intensive front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension setup, complemented by front and rear anti-roll bars, FSD variable damping suspension, and HRS hydraulic rebound bump stops. In terms of intelligent driving, the Ray7 integrates WeRide’s L4-grade origin algorithm and is equipped with 27 automotive-grade sensors—including a 192-beam LiDAR and three 4D millimeter-wave radars—enabling features such as navigation-free roaming parking spot search. According to earlier filings this month with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Ray7 is powered by a 180 kW peak-power electric motor supplied by Huawei Digital Power Technologies Co., Ltd. Its batteries are provided by both GAC Times Battery Co., Ltd. (a joint venture among CATL, GAC Group, and Aion) and Inpac Battery Tech Co., Ltd. (Aion’s in-house battery R&D company). Officially announced in July 2024, the Ray7 is positioned as a “super electric sedan beloved by young drivers.”
