The AUDI-branded all-electric E5 Sportback and E7X, co-developed by Audi and SAIC Motor in China, have been introduced into the European market by an independent importer named Auto China. Both models are built on 800V and 900V platforms respectively, featuring high-power electric motors and large-capacity batteries. The E5 Sportback is equipped with a dual-motor system delivering a maximum output of 776 horsepower and a 100 kWh battery pack. After accounting for shipping, certification, and VAT, its price is €28,000 (approximately RMB 220,000) lower than that of the Audi S6 Sportback e-tron sold in Europe—which also features a 100 kWh battery but offers only 543 horsepower. The E7X has a starting price in Europe of approximately €86,800 (around RMB 681,000) after registration. In comparison, the smaller, less powerful Audi SQ6 e-tron—lacking LiDAR—starts at €93,800 (about RMB 736,000) in Germany. The importer provides charging adapters and a two-year warranty, supported by an independent service and repair network. The first batch of vehicles hit the roads before August 19, 2024. Audi stated that these models are based on an advanced digital platform jointly developed with SAIC and are deeply integrated into China’s digital ecosystem. However, European repair networks currently lack experience servicing these vehicles, and uncertainties remain regarding parts availability and the adaptability of their advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) to non-Chinese road environments.
