On August 20, netizens reported that during the pre-sale launch event for the Yijing X9 in Nanchang, attendees received Labubu blind boxes upon check-in, only to discover after opening them that the items were counterfeit. In response, Zeng Qinglin, General Manager of the Yijing Auto brand, issued a public statement acknowledging the incident. He explained that due to the high volume of guests at the newly opened store, the team overlooked intellectual property considerations during gift preparation. While the original intention was simply to offer customers a small token of appreciation, an error occurred during execution. Zeng admitted that the root cause lay in the company’s inadequate gift management and risk review systems, which failed to keep pace with business growth—highlighting shortcomings in the company’s mid-office infrastructure. As the responsible executive, he stated he bears full accountability for the oversight. He further announced that the company has already initiated procurement of 10,000 authentic Labubu figurines to be distributed nationwide to customers visiting or test-driving vehicles at Yijing stores. Additionally, he pledged that all future promotional merchandise distributed by Yijing outlets will undergo mandatory pre-verification of official licensing to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
