On August 22, 2024, Tesla officially announced on X (formerly Twitter) that it will hold a Cybercab unveiling event in Austin, Texas, on September 3, 2026. The Cybercab is a purpose-built autonomous vehicle designed specifically for fully driverless operations. Tesla first officially unveiled the Cybercab during its "We, Robot" event in October 2024. Over the past several months, Tesla has been testing the vehicle on public roads and arranged employee test rides on private roads near its Austin headquarters in July 2026. Recently, Tesla has also begun training local emergency responders in the Austin area on handling accidents and emergency situations involving the Cybercab. The upcoming event is expected to mark the Cybercab’s official integration into Tesla’s Robotaxi service, which currently primarily uses Model Y vehicles.
