Chery Jaguar Land Rover officially launched the pre-sale of the Freelander 8 on the evening of August 14, with a pre-sale price range of RMB 339,900 to RMB 449,900. At the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, the brand unveiled updated purchase incentives, reducing the starting price after discounts to RMB 329,900. All variants of the new Freelander 8 come standard with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 intelligent driving system, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 automotive-grade chips, and an 800V high-voltage platform. Purchase benefits include: a RMB 1,000 deposit redeemable for RMB 6,000 off the vehicle price; existing Chery Jaguar Land Rover owners receive a RMB 15,000 trade-in subsidy, while owners of other brands receive RMB 10,000; flexible financing options featuring 0% down payment and annual interest rates as low as 1.99% over 12–60 months; and a limited-time complimentary i-ATS Intelligent All-Terrain System valued at RMB 50,000, along with customization discounts on exterior colors, interior trims, and charging piles. After applying all available incentives, the starting prices for each variant are as follows: Freelander 8 PRO at RMB 329,900, MAX at RMB 359,900, and MAX+ at RMB 409,900. Designed based on the Concept 97 concept car, the Freelander 8 measures 5,118 mm (or 5,185 mm with spare wheel mounted) in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,898 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm. It features a 2+2+2 six-seat layout. Optional small tray tables can be added to the front seatbacks. The cabin is equipped with a 15.6-inch Mini LED central touchscreen and a 17.3-inch ceiling-mounted rear screen, while retaining physical buttons for key functions. The second row features “Super Zero-Gravity Seats” with heated leg rests, and the first two rows can be transformed into a flat bed with a single button press. The third row includes cup holders. Standard across all models are Harman Kardon detachable headrest speakers and 11 onboard charging ports. Powering the Freelander 8 is a standard 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder range extender with a thermal efficiency of 45.79%. It delivers a CLTC pure-electric range of 310 km and is paired with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing a combined output of 610 kW and peak torque of 813 N·m, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.6 seconds. Standard equipment also includes a 250 kW two-speed rear motor, rear-wheel steering with ±10° angle (achieving a turning radius of no more than 5.15 meters), a closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension, CCD continuously variable damping shock absorbers, and a front mechanical differential lock. The vehicle uses a dedicated 60.3 kWh battery from CATL, supporting 800V high-voltage fast charging—capable of charging from 20% to 80% in as little as 12 minutes.
