On August 24, 2026, the National Energy Administration released data showing that as of the end of July 2026, China had a total of 23.683 million electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure units (charging guns), an increase of 41.9% year-on-year. Of these, public charging facilities totaled 5.099 million units, up 21.3% year-on-year, with a combined rated power capacity of 255 million kilowatts and an average power per gun of approximately 49.97 kilowatts. Private charging facilities reached 18.584 million units, surging 48.8% year-on-year, with an installed electrical capacity of 160 million kVA. Additionally, according to data announced at the Transportation and Energy Integration Innovation Development Conference held in Wuhan, Hubei Province on August 13, 2026, China has built 85,400 charging infrastructure units at highway service areas, covering over 98% of such areas nationwide. In the first half of 2026, public charging infrastructure across the country delivered 58.76 billion kWh of electricity, a year-on-year increase of 60.2%. Per the "15th Five-Year Plan for Building a New-Type Power System" jointly issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration, by 2030 China aims to exceed 40 million charging infrastructure units in total, including approximately 300,000 high-power charging stations, supporting charging services for more than 110 million electric vehicles.
