On August 24, XPeng Inc. announced that its humanoid robotics business has completed its first round of financing, raising over $900 million and achieving a post-money valuation exceeding $6.3 billion. The round was led by IDG Capital, with participation from Gaorong Capital, and strategic investments from Tencent and Alibaba. Following the financing, XPeng Inc. will retain majority control of the business and consolidate it into its financial statements. The XPeng humanoid robot, IRON, is scheduled to enter mass production by the end of 2026, initially deploying in XPeng stores and campuses for commercial applications, and will be launched and delivered in both Chinese and international markets in 2027. The robot features 76 degrees of freedom (DoF) across its body, including 21 DoF per hand, and is equipped with three Turing AI chips delivering an effective computing power of 2,250 TOPS. It supports on-device deployment of physical AI large models and can autonomously perform complex tasks. The proceeds from the financing will be used for hardware and software R&D, iterative training of physical AI models, high-quality data collection, construction of end-to-end mass production facilities, and global commercial expansion.
