On August 24, China FAW Group and Leapmotor signed an agreement in Changchun to deepen their strategic cooperation. Under the agreement, the two parties will closely collaborate across multiple areas, including capital investment, new energy vehicles, intelligent driving, powertrains, traction batteries, intelligent chassis, body manufacturing equipment, lightweight components, embodied intelligent robots, and financial services. Previously, the two companies had already established a strategic partnership and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in March 2025. In November 2025, Li Tengfei, Vice President of Leapmotor, stated that their first joint project—the overseas model under the Hongqi brand—was launched in April 2025 and is expected to enter mass production in the second half of 2026 for introduction into international markets. In June 2026, at the Hong Kong Auto Expo, Chen Bin, Deputy General Manager of China FAW Group, announced that the company plans to launch six right-hand-drive models over the next three years, alongside dedicated Hongqi models tailored for overseas markets. The "Global SUV" unveiled at the event is a rebadged version of the Leapmotor B10. In April 2025, executives from both companies revealed that Leapmotor would supply its EV platform to Hongqi to support its expansion into global markets.
