Mitsubishi Unveils Fifth-Gen Pajero Globally on September 2, 2026

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-08-24 22:00:13

The fifth-generation Mitsubishi Pajero is scheduled for its global debut on September 2, 2026. The new model will adopt a ladder-frame chassis, replacing the unibody construction used in the previous generation. It will be equipped with the same Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) four-wheel-drive system found in the Triton pickup truck—a system that comprehensively manages torque distribution, braking force, and vehicle stability. S-AWC technology has previously been used in the Lancer Evolution X and Triton models. The new Pajero is expected to combine S-AWC with the Super Select 4WD-II transfer case, enabling seamless switching between 2WD, full-time 4WD, and low-range 4WD modes. In terms of design, the vehicle may offer two distinct front-end styling options tailored to different markets. While powertrain details have not yet been officially announced, industry observers anticipate a diesel hybrid configuration, given the shared platform with the Triton. Mitsubishi has previously hinted at a hybrid version of the Pajero, though specifics such as battery capacity, electric range, and engine pairing remain undisclosed. Additionally, Mitsubishi plans to launch a compact, K-Car-sized Pajero variant featuring hybrid technology between 2028 and 2030.
