Tesla will hold a "Tesla Semi Rollout" production launch event in September 2024 at its dedicated Semi factory in Sparks, Nevada. The invitation-only event will include factory tours and test rides in the Semi electric truck. The facility spans 1.7 million square feet (approximately 158,000 square meters) and is a standalone production site for the Semi, located adjacent to Tesla’s existing Gigafactory for batteries. Tesla began limited production of the Semi in March 2024 and plans to officially commence high-volume manufacturing on April 29, 2026, aiming to complete its production ramp-up by June 30, 2026. The new factory has an annual design capacity of 50,000 units. Originally unveiled in November 2017 with an initial target launch date of 2019, the Semi’s production timeline was repeatedly delayed due to factors including battery supply constraints, changes to cell chemistry, and the construction of its dedicated factory. In December 2022, Tesla delivered the first pilot-production Semis to PepsiCo. Since then, additional customers—including Sysco, Saia, and Martin Brower—have received vehicles for testing and evaluation. As of now, Tesla’s online Semi configurator remains closed and has not reopened for public orders.
