Recently, Avatr officially launched its mid-size SUV, the Avatr 07 REEV (range-extended electric version), in Egypt, offering three trim levels priced between EGP 2.29 million and EGP 2.79 million (approximately RMB 307,000 to RMB 370,000). This move completes Avatr’s dual-product strategy in the Egyptian market, covering both battery-electric and range-extended models. In 2025, Egypt’s new vehicle sales are projected to reach 174,000 units, a 70% year-over-year increase, with passenger car sales accounting for 134,000 units, up 64% year-over-year. Chinese brands’ market share in Egypt’s passenger car segment has risen from around 10% in 2020 to 39% in 2025, further increasing to 42.7% in the first half of 2026. In 2022, the Egyptian government introduced an automotive industry strategy leveraging tariff policies to promote local production. In 2026, it upgraded this plan with specific quantitative targets, incentives, and land-use benefits, aiming to achieve an annual vehicle production capacity of 500,000 units by 2030 and accelerate the electrification of vehicles. Against this backdrop, multiple Chinese automakers have initiated CKD (Completely Knocked Down) local assembly operations in Egypt through joint ventures or contractual agreements.
