Tesla Halts FSD Launch in China, Paid Users Face Refund Uncertainty

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-08-26 14:39:00

Recently, Tesla's plans to launch its Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature in the Chinese market have stalled. According to multiple sources, Tesla’s Shanghai data center—established specifically for FSD’s entry into China—has ceased operations, and the related liaison team has already withdrawn. China is notably absent from the updated list of FSD-supported regions recently published on Tesla’s North American website, despite having been included in Tesla’s FSD rollout pipeline as recently as May this year. The deployment of FSD in China requires compliance with local data storage regulations and adaptation to domestic road conditions, but negotiations on these fronts are progressing slowly. To date, some Chinese customers have already paid RMB 64,000 to purchase the FSD option, yet there remains no clear plan regarding how their purchased rights will be fulfilled.
