On August 26, Hyundai Motor CEO José Muñoz announced at the company’s CEO Investor Day in Seoul that Hyundai plans to launch more than 100 new and redesigned models over the next eight years and enter 18 new segments, including midsize pickup trucks, light commercial vehicles, and body-on-frame vehicles. Of these, 58 new models will be introduced in the U.S. market, 41 in Europe, 26 in India, and 22 in China. Within the next eight months alone, Hyundai will unveil seven new models, including the fourth-generation Tucson midsize SUV and its hybrid variant, the IONIQ 3 compact battery electric vehicle (BEV), and the first Santa Fe extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). Hyundai projects adding approximately 1.27 million units of annual production capacity globally by 2030, targeting total global sales of 5.55 million vehicles, with 3.3 million of those being electrified models (including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and BEVs). The company’s new dedicated EV plant in Ulsan, South Korea, will have an annual capacity of 200,000 units and be capable of producing up to 12 different EV models. Additionally, Hyundai aims for over 80% of its U.S. sales to consist of electrified vehicles and is striving to surpass Ford to become the third-largest automotive brand in the U.S. market. According to Cox Automotive, Hyundai’s U.S. market share could reach 11.7% by the first half of 2026.
