On August 26, the Yichun Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau issued a statement saying that the environmental impact assessment report for the Zhenkouli–Jianxiawo Lithium Mine project in Yifeng County and Fengxin County, Jiangxi Province, operated by Yichun Contemporary Amperex Mining Co., Ltd., had been withdrawn from the preliminary acceptance public notice period. This action followed public concerns regarding the website used by the project proponent for its earlier public disclosure. The bureau stated that a new public notice will be issued once the application meets all required criteria following further verification. The Jianxiawo lithium mine, recognized as the world’s largest known lepidolite lithium deposit, has drawn continuous attention since its production halt in August 2023. Sources close to Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) indicated that the next steps for the Jianxiawo mine will align with government approval schedules.
