July 2026 Fuel and NEV Sales Rankings Released: Chery Claims Four Spots in Top 10 ICE Models, Tesla Holds Two in Top 5 NEVs

According to data from Gasgoo Automotive Research Institute, in July 2026, Chinese domestic brands dominated both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and new energy vehicle (NEV) segments of China’s passenger car market. Among the top ten best-selling ICE models, eight were from domestic brands, with SUVs occupying eight spots and only two sedans making the list. In the NEV segment, the top ten rankings were led by brands such as BYD, Tesla, and Geely Galaxy. The top ten ICE passenger car sales in July 2026 were as follows: 1. Geely Binyue/Binyue Pro – 31,137 units 2. Chery Tiggo 7/7 Plus – 24,791 units 3. Geely Emgrand – 15,246 units 4. MG ZS – 14,629 units 5. Chery Tiggo 5x – 14,625 units 6. Jetour Traveller – 14,462 units 7. Volkswagen Magotan – 13,831 units 8. Chery JAECOO J5 – 12,644 units 9. Volkswagen Tayron – 12,467 units 10. Changan X5 Plus – 12,019 units Chery had four models in the ICE top ten: Tiggo 7/7 Plus, Tiggo 5x, Jetour Traveller, and JAECOO J5. Only two joint-venture models made the list—Volkswagen’s Magotan and Tayron. The top ten NEV passenger car sales in July 2026 were as follows: 1. BYD Yuan UP – 63,258 units 2. Geely Galaxy Starship – 55,105 units 3. Tesla Model Y – 50,120 units 4. Tesla Model 3 – 33,743 units 5. Leapmotor A10 – 28,593 units 6. BYD Seagull – 27,971 units 7. Fangchengbao Tiangong 7 – 27,320 units 8. Qiyuan Q05 – 24,512 units 9. BYD Dolphin – 22,910 units 10. BYD Song Ultra – 22,000 units BYD accounted for four models in the NEV top ten: Yuan UP, Seagull, Dolphin, and Song Ultra. Tesla’s Model Y and Model 3 ranked third and fourth, respectively.
