On August 27, Perplexity AI announced the launch of PortableComputer, a localized version of its multi-model orchestrated digital agent, PerplexityComputer. Designed to enable private workflows, the product leverages cloud computing power only when necessary to safeguard user privacy and data security. PortableComputer runs either the Qwen3.8-27B model or PPLX-27B—a model fine-tuned by Perplexity AI—and is currently developing a fine-tuned variant of Nemotron-3.5-Lightning for ultra-fast response times. The product will initially support DGX Spark devices running the Linux operating system, with support for Windows OS and PCs equipped with GeForce RTX/RTX Pro discrete GPUs to follow.
