On August 28, Fisker’s bankruptcy liquidation proceedings in Sweden and Norway were largely concluded. In Sweden, the total value of Fisker’s asset liquidation amounted to approximately 6 million Swedish kronor (about USD 632,000). After priority creditors were paid, Ocean vehicle owners who opted for a settlement collectively received 2.5 million kronor (approximately USD 263,000), equating to roughly 41,000 kronor (about USD 4,300) per person—significantly less than their original claim of 147,800 kronor (approximately USD 15,500) each. In Norway, Fisker’s subsidiary reported total debts of 620 million Norwegian kroner (around USD 66.65 million), with the largest single debt—457 million kroner (about USD 49.1 million)—owed to contract manufacturer Magna Steyr. Magna Steyr’s plant in Graz, Austria, was responsible for assembling all Fisker Ocean vehicles. Fisker also maintains subsidiaries in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Austria, all of which have entered bankruptcy or liquidation proceedings. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware on June 17, 2024, listing between 200 and 999 creditors and estimating its liabilities at between USD 100 million and USD 500 million. Vehicle owners who paid USD 80,000 or more for their cars are classified as unsecured creditors and rank last in the repayment hierarchy, leaving them with extremely limited recovery prospects.
