Anthropic recently announced that ClaudeCode’s desktop app now supports synchronization with terminal sessions. Users can type the `/resume` command in the desktop app to bring up a list of past sessions and select any previously initiated CLI session to continue working seamlessly. This feature preserves the complete conversation history, code snippets, and discussion context, eliminating the need for repetitive input. According to data provided by ClaudeCode engineer Lydia Hallie, these synchronized sessions have totaled 1,240 instances, amounting to 162.4 million tokens. Previously, users had to manually reconstruct context when switching between the terminal and desktop environments; now, sessions can be continued across devices. The team initially considered displaying terminal sessions directly in a sidebar within the desktop app but opted for the `/resume` command as an interim solution due to unsatisfactory interface design. Anthropic stated that a more comprehensive solution is still under development.
