On August 29, BMW Motorrad CEO Markus Flasch stated that Chinese and Indian motorcycle manufacturers are playing an increasingly significant role in the global motorcycle market. He revealed that BMW has already partnered with India’s TVS and China’s Loncin, adding that such collaborations will move forward as long as they are mutually beneficial. Flasch noted that consumers’ purchasing decisions are influenced not only by the product itself and its price, but also by factors such as brand image, heritage, sales network, and product quality. He also mentioned that current demand for electric motorcycles is primarily concentrated in urban mobility, though it could expand to off-road segments in the future. However, he emphasized that electrification is unlikely to gain significant traction in the near term in supersport and adventure-touring segments due to limitations in energy density, range requirements, and reliance on charging infrastructure.
