Volkswagen is set to launch its all-new all-electric SUV, the ID. Tiguan, built on an upgraded MEB+ electric platform. The model is expected to debut in late 2026 and go on sale in 2027. Production will take place at Volkswagen’s Emden plant in Germany, which currently manufactures the ID.4 and ID.7. Volkswagen opened European pre-orders for the ID. Tiguan on March 12, 2026, with an Australian market launch anticipated in 2027. The ID. Tiguan will feature an upgraded battery setup, delivering a maximum WLTP range of up to 700 kilometers and supporting DC fast charging with peak power between 175 and 200 kW. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. In terms of battery technology, the vehicle adopts a cell-to-pack (CTP) design and uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. Additionally, the inverter in the electric drive system switches from IGBT to silicon carbide (SiC) technology. Exterior-wise, the ID. Tiguan adopts a more upright, traditional SUV silhouette, featuring a full-width LED light bar and a closed-off front grille. The rear end sports sharply defined taillights, while door handles revert to conventional mechanical designs. Inside, the cabin reintroduces physical buttons, replacing the touch-sensitive sliders found in the current ID.4.
