UK Car Production Falls 11.6% Year-on-Year to 63,655 Units in July

UK car production in July totaled 63,655 units, down 11.6% year-on-year. Vehicle exports during the same period fell by 15.9% to 47,377 units, as demand declined across key export markets including the EU, China, the United States, Turkey, and Japan. Industry groups noted that some manufacturers brought forward their routine summer shutdowns, exacerbating the month’s year-on-year decline. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) called for adjustments to electric vehicle regulations, lower energy costs, and the preservation of automotive trade relations with Europe.
