On September 1, several new energy vehicle (NEV) startups released their delivery figures for August 2026. Leapmotor delivered 103,129 vehicles globally in August, up 80.7% year-over-year, marking the second consecutive month with monthly deliveries exceeding 100,000 units. NIO, XPeng, Li Auto, Xiaomi Auto, and Zeekr all reported August deliveries exceeding 30,000 units each. XPeng Group delivered 39,107 vehicles in August, a 4% year-over-year increase. Among them, the XPeng GX model accounted for 7,338 units, while cumulative deliveries of the MONA series surpassed 310,000 units. Li Auto delivered 37,679 vehicles in August, bringing its total historical deliveries to 1,801,800 units as of August 31. Zeekr delivered 36,981 vehicles in August, surging 109.8% year-over-year, with cumulative deliveries from January to August reaching 251,000 units. NIO delivered 35,836 vehicles in August, up 14.47% year-over-year, including 21,174 units under the NIO brand, 8,810 units under the ONVO brand, and 5,852 units under the Firefly brand. Xiaomi Auto delivered over 30,000 vehicles in August, maintaining monthly deliveries above 30,000 for the fifth consecutive month. Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) delivered 42,101 vehicles in August, with year-to-date cumulative deliveries growing 10.8% year-over-year and total cumulative deliveries across its entire lineup surpassing 1.52 million units. Deepal Auto reported global sales of 28,659 units in August, with cumulative sales from January to August totaling 222,028 units. Voyah delivered 13,003 vehicles in August, bringing its year-to-date cumulative deliveries to 102,456 units. Huawei’s Aito (Huajing Auto) delivered 7,306 vehicles in August, marking its fourth consecutive month of growth. Leapmotor reported revenue of RMB 38.11 billion and net profit of RMB 2.1 billion for the first half of 2026, with a gross margin of 12.6% in Q2. XPeng posted total Q2 revenue of RMB 19.74 billion and a consolidated gross margin of 20.7%. Li Auto reported a net loss of RMB 3.981 billion for the first half of the year, with vehicle gross margin declining to 7.8%. Xiaomi Group reported revenue of RMB 24.9 billion from its smart EV and other innovative AI-related businesses in Q2, with an operating loss of RMB 2.6 billion and a gross margin of 19.2%. Additionally, both Leapmotor and XPeng confirmed their entry into the robotics business. XPeng’s robotics division secured over USD 900 million in funding in August, achieving a post-money valuation exceeding USD 6.3 billion.
