Data released on September 1 showed that sales of domestic new-energy vehicle (NEV) startups and new brands from traditional automakers in August remained largely flat compared to July. Leapmotor led the NEV startups with sales of 103,129 units, marking its second consecutive month exceeding the 100,000-unit threshold. Changan’s Qiyuan brand surpassed 40,000 units in August, with its A and Q series posting a year-over-year increase of 103.1%. Harmony Intelligent Mobility also exceeded 40,000 units in August, as its Zunjie V680/V800, Xiangjie G9, and Zhijie RX models either launched or opened for pre-orders this month. Zeekr and NIO both reported year-over-year sales growth exceeding 100% in August, driven primarily by their family-oriented SUVs. Li Auto saw a notable month-over-month sales increase in August. Xiaomi Auto did not disclose specific sales figures, but another brand reported sales triple that of Xiaomi’s. The Leapmotor A05 debuted in early August, offering a CLTC-rated maximum range of 510 km and equipped with LiDAR. Leapmotor plans to unveil new advancements in autonomous driving and its triple electric systems (battery, motor, and electronic control) on September 16.
