Mitsubishi Unveils Next-Gen Pajero Off-Road SUV

Mitsubishi Motors unveiled the all-new Pajero off-road SUV on September 2. The vehicle features a three-row, seven-seat layout and measures 4,920 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,910 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,870 mm, a track width of 1,630 mm, and a ground clearance of 230 mm. It offers an approach angle of 30.4°, a ramp-over angle of 22.6°, and a departure angle of 25.8°, with a front-to-rear weight distribution of 52:48. Powering the new model is a 2.4-liter diesel engine equipped with a wide-range single variable geometry turbocharger and an 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering a maximum torque of 480 N·m. It also features Mitsubishi’s S-AWC full-time four-wheel-drive system. The chassis utilizes a high-rigidity ladder frame, paired with a front independent double-wishbone suspension and a rear five-link setup. Inside, the cabin is highlighted by a seamless dual 14.3-inch display panel, a tri-zone automatic climate control system, and ventilated seats. The second-row seats offer 150 mm of fore-aft sliding range and can be folded, while the third row provides ample headroom. The audio system, co-developed with Yamaha, includes 12 speakers and two amplifiers, complemented by extensive noise-reduction measures throughout the cabin. Safety features include a 30 fps 3D surround-view monitor, highway single-lane driving assist, pedal misapplication mitigation support, and eight airbags—including Mitsubishi’s first-ever SRS center airbag.
