Volvo Cars Global Sales Drop 7.4% Year-on-Year in June–August 2026

According to data released by Volvo Cars, its global sales totaled 148,239 vehicles from June to August 2026, a 7.4% year-over-year decline. During the same period, sales of electrified models—including battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs)—rose by 13% year-over-year, accounting for 53.5% of total sales. BEVs represented 29% of total sales, while PHEVs accounted for 24.5%. The company stated that the quarter's sales performance was impacted by weak macroeconomic conditions and intensifying competition in the Chinese market, as well as softer demand for BEVs and PHEVs in the U.S. market, which weighed on overall sales. Volvo Cars' Chief Commercial Officer, Björn Annwall, emphasized that the company is currently prioritizing maintaining transaction prices over pursuing sales volume alone. He also noted robust performance of BEVs in the European market and highlighted that customer orders for the EX60 model continue to exceed expectations.
