On September 1, 2026, Waymo announced the simultaneous launch of its paid autonomous ride-hailing service in Denver, San Diego, and Tampa. This expansion brings the company’s operations to 14 cities across the United States, with a fleet exceeding 4,000 vehicles and completing over 500,000 rides per week. In the same month, Zoox, an Amazon subsidiary, plans to begin testing in Houston and San Diego. Tesla’s Cybercab is set to officially open its service to the public on September 2, 2026.
